If you own a Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) account, buying airtime is a now a lot easier because you can easily do that by dialing a USSD code (*737*Amount#) from your phone using the number linked to your bank account.

This has been around for some time, but some people still ask me what this code is so I decided to put it up here for anyone that does not know about it at all or you’ve heard about it, but you’ve forgotten or may be you have never used it.

Simply, dial *737*Amount#. For example to purchase a thousand naira airtime (NGN1,000), just dial *737*1000#. The amount of airtime purchased would be automatically added to your airtime balance and the exact amount would be deducted from your bank account without any extra charge. Please, note that this has to be done from the phone number linked to your bank account.

You can also purchase airtime for others or any other phone number that is not linked to your GTB account by dialling *737*Amount*Phone Number# e.g. *737*1000*08012345678#. You would be prompted to specify the network provider that the phone number belongs to and to also enter the last 4 digits of your ATM card to complete the transaction. That simply implies that you need to have your ATM card handy to be able to purchase airtime for any other number that is not linked to your GTB account.

The code once again is

*737*Amount# – Purchase airtime for the phone number linked to your GTB account

*737*Amount*Phone Number# – Purchase airtime for any other phone number not linked to your GTB account
