Do you know that you can boost the speed of your Android phone without installing any app? Do you know that when you switch on your device and you use it for a period of time, it slows down and you may start experiencing some lag in its operation? I’m sure a lot of people must have experienced this especially if you are not using a top top high-end phone that has a lot of RAM to play around with.

When your Android phone slows down after some time of use, it’s very much likely that too much applications are running at the same time and as a result of that the RAM is full or almost full. There some actions that you can take on your own to instantly boost the speed of your phone, which I have highlighted below

  1. If your phone has a built-in task manager, open the task manager app of your phone to end running apps that you are not using and tap the “Clear Memory” button if your phone has that option.
  2. If you don’t have a task manager on your phone, do not worry. You can also go to the Application Manager menu found under Settings to end unused running applications including the ones that may be running in the background.
  3. You can also identify apps that you don’t really use but are running background processes, which you can uninstall to free up your RAM, because once you uninstall them, their background processes go out of the window with them, so they would no longer be on your phone to eat up your RAM even when you are not using them.
  4. Finally your phone may just need a simple restart and everything would be back to normal.

One final tip I’ll drop here, which is only useful for you at the point of purchasing your device is this

Run away from any phone that has less than 1GB of RAM as it would be quickly eaten up by the time you install some memory-hogging apps. As of today, the least you should go for is a device with 2GB RAM or at the worst 1.5GB RAM.

The speed of your device does not only depend on the processor speed, it’s life also hang on the amount of RAM it has to play around with.
