ISIS (the terrorist group that started their “wahala” in Iraq) has hacked the US Military Command Centre Twitter and Youtube accounts. These accounts that are being run with the handle @centcom (Twitter) and @centcom (Youtube) were broken into by the cyber wing of the terrorist group that refer to themselves as the “Cyber Caliphate” (remember ISIS is trying to establish an Islamic Caliphate all over the world or wherever it is they think they can reach). They changed the profile picture and cover image of the account on Twitter to this.
They also left some tweets and some pictures supposedly revealing some classified information. Though, there are claims that most of the information they left were already public before.
The information that was posted after the breach was only available for about thirty(30) minutes before both the Twitter and Youtube accounts were suspended.
As at the time of writing this, the twitter account is already up
However, the Youtube account is still showing the message “This account has been terminated due to repeated or severe violations of our Community Guidelines.” as seen below.
Technically, ISIS didn’t hack the U.S. Central Command, they hacked Twitter and Youtube and targeted the @centcom accounts.
The official word as found on the United States Central Command website is shown below and you can view it on their website here.
